Impact of Egg Storage on Embryo Development

چکیده
1. New information is introduced and other information reviewed regarding the impact of egg storage on the integrity of the avian embryo. 2. Morphologically, the blastoderm from an egg which has been stored more than 10 days is often asymmetrical and may have an attenuated appearance. 3. Fresh egg breakouts coupled with the perivitelline layer sperm-hole determination procedure provide detailed information on the male's contribution to overall fertility. 4. The biological basis for embryonic mortality in eggs stored for longer than 10 days remains the subject of speculation.

Impact of egg storage on carbonic anhydrase activity during early embryogenesis in the turkey.
Carbonic anhydrase is an enzyme that plays important roles in the conversion of carbon dioxide to bicarbonate, acid-base balance, and in subembryonic fluid formation in the early Japanese quail embryo. While turkey egg storage longer than 10 d is known to increase the rate of embryo mortality, little is known of the biological mechanisms that contribute to this phenomenon. In this study, we exa...
متن کاملThe embryonic development of orange mud crab, Scylla olivacea (Herbst, 1796) held in the captivity
This study attempts to observe and record early embryonic developments of the orange mud crab, Scylla olivacea. The period taken by the eggs to hatch was 8 days and the colour of the eggs gradually changed from yellow to brown, gray and dark gray. During the embryonic development, the developing embryos reached the blastula stage within 24 hours with a mean egg diameter of 329.91 µm ± 6.62. The...

متن کاملMorphologic Evaluation of the Fertilized and Unfertilized Ostrich Egg during the Early Stages of Development (MRI Analysis)
Introduction: The magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technique permits to monitor the development of the embryo in vivo without causing any developmental defects. Although increasing application of MRI imaging are predicted in veterinary sciences, there is little information available about MRI studies of avian embryos and their eggs. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the o...
متن کاملInfluence of air composition during egg storage on egg characteristics, embryonic development, hatchability, and chick quality.
Egg storage beyond 7 d is associated with an increase in incubation duration and a decrease in hatchability and chick quality. Negative effects of prolonged egg storage may be caused by changes in the embryo, by changes in egg characteristics, or by both. An adjustment in storage air composition may reduce negative effects of prolonged egg storage because it may prevent changes in the embryo an...
